Steve Chooses Tony over Bucky

Steve Chooses Tony over Bucky

Hello! I can’t believe the number of great stories I’ve missed and probably would still be missing if you did not create this wonderful blog. Thank you so much! Um, I was wondering and I know this is probably a long shot since I have not really come across it, but do you know of any stories where Steve chooses Tony over Bucky?

There are only a couple of Stony fics like this that I know of (way more have Bucky return and it becomes Stuckony).  But, give these a try!

EVEN THIRD WHEELS LEAVE COMMENTS AND KUDOS!

Never Gonna Happen by Annehiggins:

Tony Stark never really believed Steve Rogers would actually marry him, but he’d never dreamed it would be because Bucky Barnes turned up alive on their wedding day. Takes into account all pre-Winter Soldier movies except Tony and Pepper broke up between The Avengers and Iron Man 3 for the usual reasons.

Drowning Out the Silence by @stark-spangled-lovers

“Uncle?” Steve had asked, and grabbed for both of Tony’s wrists, pinning them above his head. Tony had rolled his eyes. “Yeah, fine, whatever.”
But Steve hadn’t stood up like he usually did. He’d lingered, and after a few seconds, his thumb had brushed over Tony’s cheek and their eyes had locked with an undeniable intent. And Tony remembered so clearly that Steve had been about to say something—something that might’ve changed everything—but the next second, JARVIS’ voice had alerted them to Bucky’s presence in the living room, and that had been it. They’d had a moment. And now it was gone.

Hold My Hand by @stark-spangled-lovers

* Cap 2 AU **** Can be read as a stand alone! **Book 3 of the Say When series. An alternate version of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In the months following the defeat of the Mandarin, Steve decides to temporarily move back to Washington in order to help SHIELD train the new STRIKE teams. A long-distance relationship is harder than Steve ever thought it would be, and so he resumes life the only way he knows how: fighting the bad guys, following orders. It’s only a matter of time before his past catches up with him, and brings about a man he thought he’d lost forever…

Replace Me by Pearl_Unplanned:

Every time Tony managed to locate the assassin, he told Steve, and while Steve always came home empty-handed he always had a smile on his face.
So Tony stayed in the lab. He kept searching for Bucky, he kept sending Steve out to new places, with Wilson or Clint or Natasha. Bruce kept trying to pull him out of the lab, but he only really managed to whenever Steve wasn’t home. Tony kept up his search even though he knew that finding Bucky would mean replacing himself. Because after all, he just wanted Steve to be happy.

A Doubt in my Mind by kitteekatz69:

Tony is afraid that Steve is going to leave him to be with Bucky now that he is back. He gets a little bit too drunk and arrives home late to break it off with Steve before Steve can break it off with him. Steve always proves him wrong in the sweetest, most old fashioned way possible.

We Did Some Good, You and I by RurouniHime:

It’s done now, for better or for worse. (part of A Living Faith series, which deals with fallout from CA:TWS)

gonna be trouble by fictionalcandie:

In which Bucky comes back, Tony is doomed, and the Avengers want their breakfast.

Blueberry Waffles and Fireworks by MangoMartini:

“New plan,” Tony declares, spreading his arms wide. “We’re going to woo the Capsicle.”“Sir, this may not be the right time—”“What? Just because SHIELD fell apart and he’s busy chasing his brainwashed best friend? Yeah, probably. But what the hell? Let’s do it anyway.”

If Only You Could Tell Me What I Need to Hear by lweilaura:

The sad thing was that it wasn’t even a surprise at all. Tony was used to it. He was used to the pain of not being good enough, he was used to be let down just when his hopes were high and he was used to be neglected for something better than him.
No big news, no big surprises, just his life being his life. The worst thing, however, was that no matter how often it had happened to him, it never stopped hurting like the very first time.

No, This One’s Mine by JurisfictionAgent99:

Bucky had only been back for a month and Tony was already losing it. Steve had never said anything about wanting to be with Bucky back in the forties, but the way he looked at him made Tony wonder if he wanted to now. Steve said he loved Tony, said it every day, and Tony knew he wasn’t one to lie, so why was he so worried?Steve and Tony have been dating for a year when Bucky comes back. Tony worries that Steve will choose Bucky over him while Steve wonders how best to pop the question to Tony.

Jealousy by xMarrvelsx:

Bucky’s back, and Steve hasn’t left his side since his arrival. Tony’s not jealous. Nope. Not at all…

Coffee Into Theorems by BladeoftheNebula:

When Natasha actually smiles at Barnes and Barnes in return gets to call her ‘Nat’ without being killed in a scary and extremely painful way, Tony decides Barnes hasn’t just encroached on his territory, he’s fucking invaded and set up a new regime.Or: In which Tony acquires a family, then a Steve and Bucky Barnes returns from the dead to ruin Tony’s life.

Shattered by sabrecmc:

Tony watches the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier unfold. Or, I threw Stony at TWS. Take that, Stucky!

jealousy is all the fun you think they had by kellifer_fic:

Is it socially acceptable to be jealous of your boyfriend’s ex-dead best friend?

The Trials and Tribulations of One James “Bucky” Barnes, caused by Steve Rogers and Tony Stark by LemonSchwaySchway:

Bucky’s awake and Steve has changed. It’s weird, and new, like the
future (seriously, though) and suspiciously involves the infuriating
Tony Stark at every turn. Bucky thinks Steve really is a saint.

In Your Arms, I’d Like to Stay by PriyaxRishabh:

For this prompt from Illbetherestonyfest that I couldn’t get to in time, because children are a nightmare.[MCU]

Avengers back together. Tony keeps a polite distance from Cap, but
starts an odd friendship with Bucky: They do things they used to do w
Cap and bond over mutual interests Cap never had. Cue jealous Cap in
denial that it can be anything but friendly jealousy. He’s just jealous
Tony is replacing him with Bucky, right? (wrong).
Bonus 1: Tony is aware of Cap’s jealousy, but thinks he’s jealous of Bucky. Cue jealous Tony provoking Cap’s jealousy even more.
Bonus 2: Bucky knows the truth of it all.
